The Milky Way in optical wavelengths

The Milky Way in radio wavelengths

The general public's experience with the universe is usually limited in space and time. With few sources of astronomical inquiry beyond general education and popular literature available, the observable universe beyond what little human beings can observe with their own eyes is often overlooked.

Strikingly, newspapers and magazines, television and the Internet, regularly broadcast discoveries in astronomy that have been made observing radio, millimeter, infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray, and gamma-ray radiation.

The purpose of this site is to supplement the Radio Sky portable planetarium show which immmerses the audience in the radio universe to give them a first hand experience with a part of the electromagnetic spectrum they might not have even been aware of. The planetarium show consists of a radio view of the sky projected on the portable planetarium dome, juxtaposed next to the visible sky.

This site is intented to serve as a learning tool used to familiarize students and educators alike before viewing the radio sky show.
