Brian

Brian Pike is entering his second year at North Carolina State University.  He spent the summer at PARI writing JAVA Applets that we use with the Smiley 4.6-m radio telescope and for the PARI weather station.  The Smiley software consists of a calendar that teachers can access and schedule their own time, avoiding conflicts in scheduling.  The other sofwtare Brian is developing is a JAVA applet for data analyisis on line.  Students and teachers can access their data at any time, plot radio spectra or time series data and measure doppler shifts and intensities.

The weather station JAVA Applet reads data provided by a Visual Basic Program that interfaces to the weather station hardware.  The applet then sends the data to a web page for display to the public. The VB code was written last year by Jim Castelaz.
