The Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA) 0.9-m telescope is an old friend of mine. I was first introduced to it in the 1980’s when it was still part of the KPNO #1 and #2 0.9-m telescopes. After the telescope was relocated to a different site at Kitt Peak and loaned to SARA, I became Director of the SARA Observatory from 1992-1998, during the reconstruction years. Challenging as it was, the work was well worth it. Today, the SARA Consortium members use it regularly both remotely and on-site.
