Allegheny Obs.

ao202

I worked at the Allegheny Observatory from 1986 to 1991 as a Research Professor.  The emphasis of my work was on the development and use of the Multichannel Astrometric Photometer (MAP).  This instrument was installed at the focus of the 30-inch Thaw Refractor. The MAP was designed to measure milliarcsecond relative stellar positions on the sky.

The observatory has a lot of character, plus many great stories.  If you ever get a chance to visit, do it.  It is one of the few great classic astronomical observatories around.
